‘Floyd the Peacock' is the first painting in my Big Bird Collection, a series I envisioned for months before touching brush to canvas. With this collection, I aimed to make each bird big and bold, with long necks and set against an abstract-style background.
‘Floyd has been created on a deep box canvas measuring 100 × 50 × 3. The background was crafted by covering the canvas in black gesso, then layering spray paint in vibrant pinks, purples, blues, and white to produce a bold and striking backdrop for him.
I aimed to keep Floyd's head and neck as realistic as possible, achieved by layering bright blue and turquoise tones over deeper, richer shades. For the tail feathers, I wanted to evoke the essence of his majestic display. Using a teardrop-shaped stencil, I layered gold, pink, purple, and green spray paints, giving tail feathers a more abstract and artistic feel.
This is truly a stunning,-stopping piece of art that would make a fabulous addition to any wall in your home.
The painting has been sealed with a gloss finish varnish to preserve and protect the artwork.
